Who am I, and Why am I qualified?

My experience with aviation and curiosity with flight started 20 years ago. Most of my life has been spent as a professional pilot, but that’s not the whole story.

I have worked as a:

-flight instructor teaching new and mentoring experienced pilots
-charter pilot in paradise
-aerial survey pilot planning for emergency response
-military helicopter pilot
-captain with one of the largest airlines in the world.

When I was attending my military flight school I already had over 3000 hours of flight time. Many of my fellow students had never touched the controls of an aircraft. My experience allowed me to act as a mentor to many of these students and help guide them through the maze of rules, regulations, and flight techniques.

This experience also taught me how much I had forgotten about the basics of flight. Over those thousands of hours, I had lost some of the most basic flight qualities.

After talking with my experienced peers I realized that I wasn't the only one who had forgotten pieces of aviation basics. Many pilots, even those with only a year or two under their belt, had lost the fundamentals.

These conversations are why I started to teach again. There are thousands of pilots with unanswered questions.
