How to Unlearn Flaring Too Early After Flying a Solo?

I have already done 5 solo flights and have 85 hours flying Cessna 172, but recently I flare too early resulting in heavy landings. I have tried to unlearn this with my CFI, but it doesn't seem to work. What can I do to unlearn flaring too early?!

    I think a certain amount of ground fear is natural, so flaring too high is a common problem. It’s very difficult to come up with a solution without being in the airplane with you and seeing what you are doing. But most flare issues seem to come down to where you are looking when you are going to begin your round out.

    Many seem to focus on a location that prevents the acquisition of peripheral cues that aid us in judging height and lateral position. That might be looking too close to the airplane on short final. It can also be the exact opposite, looking too far down the runway, blurring the many cues we get from seeing things 30-45 degrees to our left (from the left seat). In a 172 either can be made worse if the proper touchdown attitude is with the nose covering most of the runway.

    Since I’m not there to see, one suggestion is to search YouTube for videos about “the Lindbergh Reference” by Jason Miller/The Finer Points or “pizza slice” by Rod Machado. Both talk about that 30-45 degree view.
