Some website housecleaning

Posted by on July 7, 2011 1 Comments Category : Flight Instructor Blog

Just wanted to pass on some general website housekeeping notes about askacfi.com.

I received an email tonight from a registered user indicating that he was having trouble accessing his account at askacfi.com.   If you are having similar issues, here is the problem.  A couple of nights ago, I ran a script to help remove the nearly 30,000 spam accounts that have been maliciously created on this site.  The script was written in such way that it should only delete users that have not posted a question or comment.  Apparently, this script still needs some refinement because it mistakenly deleted some legitimate users as well and for that I sincerely apologize.  If this happened to you, I fear the only fix will be to create a new account.   You’ll also notice on the sign-up page that we have installed a captcha system for hopefully helping to curtail some of those spammer accounts so we won’t have this problem in the future.

Again, thanks for your patience and if you have any problems with the new registration system or have some other suggestions for me, please let me know.

Thanks.

Paul.
