Allowed to Fly?

Asked by: 558 views Private Pilot

Hey Folks,

Diagnosed with Afib.  Had an ablation to correct the issue.  My AME passed me with flying colors.  FAA wants, Thyroid, Stress and Sleep study before they'll issue me my 3rd class medical again.

Passed the Thyroid and Stress.  Couldn't schedule the Sleep study until another two months.

Was halfway through my IFR certificate training when this happened.   Question is, can I continue to train with a CFI on my IFR but not have my 3rd class medical reinstated yet?

I know it's coming, just want to get back in the left seat, with an instructor of course.  Won't be doing any solo things until medical reinstated.  Thanks!

Mike D.

Yes, although you can’t act as PIC, you can continue your training and log PIC as long as you are the sole manipulator of the controls.
