Log practice approach while waiting on special issuance

Asked by: 814 views General Aviation, Instrument Rating

I am an instrument rated pilot who is current. I am awaiting a special issuance from the FAA. Can I log a practice approach towards currency if the safety pilot agrees before the flight that he will be PIC. He also a current instrument pilot with a current medical that is rated and current for the aircraft. I will be the sole manipulator of the controls during the entire approach.

    Yes.

There is nothing in any logging or currency rule (other than those few which specifically require you to be *acting* as PIC or required crew) that requires a medical certificate.
