Commercial Pilot Long X-C

Asked by: 1355 views Commercial Pilot

The requirements state the long cross country is a solo flight of a total distance of 300 miles with one landing being 250 miles from the point of departure. If the commercial student is a private pilot, is it permissible for a passenger to accompany on the flight?

Also, can the flight be completed over a weekend instead of just one day?

Thanks!

    1. What is the definition of “solo”? Hint: it’s in 61.51.

    2. There is no limitation on the time frame it takes to complete the trip.

When Charles Lindbergh made his famous flight across the Atlantic, there was a fly inside the airplane that had gotten trapped there. Lindbergh later wrote that the fly helped keep him awake. Because of that, there has been a lot of tongue-in-cheek debate about whether he truly made the flight solo or not.
