CFII single engine add on to CFII multi

Asked by: 1952 views Flight Instructor

Thanks Kris, but I am looking for the specifics to add on the single engine to the multi CFII.  I know there is no FAA written exam required.  Enough flight training to prep for practical?  No minimum hours?

I am assuming that you now possess a Flight Instructor certificate with Airplane Multiengine and Instrument Airplane ratings.

The requirements for additional instructor ratings are contained in 61.191.

There is not a minimum number of hours required. The training and test may now be conducted in a non-complex single engine airplane.

You must log training in the items listed in 61.187(b)(1).

Further, you do not need to be tested on all the tasks in the PTS. See the task table for additional ratings to determine which tasks will be tested.

I hope I have answered all your questions.

It is disappointing to me (and should be to you) that the person who provided your training for the two instructor ratings you already hold, failed to give you adequate training concerning regulatory requirements for additional ratings.
