IFR currency

Instrument Rating

Now under the new IFR currency rules, I can keep myself  current in a simulator by logging 6 approaches, a holding and tracking courses.

Do I have to do a IPC again after 6 months (if my currency has been lapsed), or is there still a “grace” period of 6 months that I can regain my currency by logging these approaches on a sim (or flight with safety pilot)?

    Here is the current language for FAR 61.57 relating to the 6 month grace period (which still exists)

    “(d) Instrument proficiency check. (1) Except as provided in paragraph (e) of this section, a person who has failed to meet the instrument experience requirements of paragraph (c) of this section for more than six calendar months may reestablish instrument currency only by completing an instrument proficiency check. The instrument proficiency check must consist of at least the following areas of operation:
