I am wondering with the new regulation the FAA put out getting rid of the complex requirement (for the checkride) how far can you go with what type of airplane to bring to the checkride. For instance can I bring a Piper Cub to the checkride?

    To my understanding, it needs only to be an airplane which is capable of performing the maneuvers in the test. The FAA notice on the subject, http://fsims.faa.gov/wdocs/notices/n8900_463.htm states:

    “Therefore, the airplane used for the practical test must still meet the requirements specified in § 61.45.”

    so if the Piper Cub meets all that and the examiner agrees, then why not?
