Q-route Gulf of Mexico

Would anyone know if  we are flying the Q-routes in the Gulf of Mexico what type of authorization, if  any , is needed operating under part 91?

    Thanks John.. I took a look there. This AC does not apply to the Q-routes in the Gulf of Mexico.

    It would help to know what kind of airplane you are using.

    Q routes use airspace from FL 180 – FL 450.
    RVSM airspace runs from FL 290 – FL 410.

    If you are going to fly in RVSM airspace, you need Letter of Authorization B046.
    If you can get permission to climb through RVSM airspace, you do not need it, but it limits your options.

    There may be other LOAs that would aid your operation, such as D095 – Use an MMEL as an MEL.

    You should also have B036, which allows use of multiple Long Range Navigation Systems or B054, which authorizes use of a Single Long Range Navigation System in the Gulf.

    The best thing would be to confer with your FSDO.
