Asked by: 2363 views General Aviation, Instrument Rating, Weather

Hi

In Redmond airport(Krdm) they have this approach called Juniper Visual approach? What type of approach is it? Is this just a visual approach? Never seen a visual approach that has a approach plate!

As you surmised, it is a visual approach. It\’s a way for ATC to get aircraft in on a visual while following a set of rules. I think the neatest example is the RIVER Visual Rwy 19 into KDCA.

There are a few of them. Some are to large hubs like DCA (and I\’d match JFK\’s Parkway Visual with that one in the \”neat\” category). But there are ones into small airports too, like the Roaring Fork Visual in the high terrain leading to Aspen, Colorado.
