Interpolation

My question concerns interpolating values on the winds aloft chart:

How would you find the wind direction and temperature at a level lower than what the winds aloft chart forecasts? Here I have winds aloft data at FL050 and Surface winds at 2' MSL.

I need to know the wind direction at 3000' for cruise and temperature for TAS.

Here are the values:

Field elevation: 2' Winds: 07005KT 30°C

Winds aloft: FL050 Winds: 23006KT 18°C

Desired cruising altitude: 3000'

I don’t know that you can interpolate effectively between surface winds and the first (lowest) altitude listed. Ground friction and terrain will affect both direction and speed at the surface.

At times, one can see a significant difference in speed and direction between surface winds and the winds at traffic pattern altitude.
