I am a recently retired military pilot. When I finished Navy Flight School, my total T-34C time was transferred to the electronic logbook. Since then, my original Navy Logbook has gone missing, which means I cannot see how that time was broken down.
I am now building time to apply for my ATP, for which I need 250 hours of FW PIC time. Obviously, a significant portion of my time in the T-34C after my Safe-for-Solo checkride would normally count. I have asked fellow pilots and found that for them they were able to log about 85% of their T-34C time as PIC.
As my electronic logbook can substantiate my total T-34C time, can I use that as a basis to estimate my PIC time? For example, 120 hours total minus 13 hours prior to Solo (10 flights * 1.3 hours) would be 107 hours. 85% of that would be 91 hours.
Incidentally, I have contacted the Records office at my Navy training wing and they lost all records prior to 2008 due to a hard drive crash. I also contacted a FSDO and pulled the 8710-1 I used to apply for my Commercial License through the Military Competency process. Sadly, the hours section on it was left empty.
