    Yes. You are correct.

To explain the answer, 61.57 requires you get the following in an ATD:

    (i) Three hours of instrument experience.

    (ii) Holding procedures and tasks.

    (iii) Six instrument approaches.

(iv) Two unusual attitude recoveries while in a descending, Vne airspeed condition and two unusual attitude recoveries while in an ascending, stall speed condition.

    (v) Interception and tracking courses through the use of navigational electronic systems.

If you get those requirements in an ATD you are current for the next 2 calendar months. If you miss the opportunity to stay current then you have six months to get current before needing an IPC.

For me, it comes to a question of how proficient do I want to be? The minimum currencies may save you some money, but it may not save your bacon when you’re on an ILS going down to minimums hoping to break out…. Cheers!

    thanks for reply 🙂

you will find me agree with you that proficiency will not earn by only maintain the IR privileges. 🙂

many schools are only saying that ” 2 hours is enought to be current again using a ATD” and they dont specify the 61.57 c 3 of 3 hrs instruction requierement which can cause frustration to many pilots.

    regards
