Do I need to be a BGI to start a website?

Asked by: 1921 views Flight Instructor

So...

I just got my private pilot license, and I would love to make a free website offering tips and other info to student pilots looking to achieve the same.

Do I need to become a certified BGI to put up a site like this? Or is that only required to do "official" teaching, like to a classroom?

Thanks!

Anybody can have a website, just look at the internet.
You are not necessarily teaching, you are sharing your experience.

Anybody can attempt to teach anything with flying. The catch is that to use it to satisfy the requirements for a certificate or rating, it must be provided by an “authorized instructor”.

Can’t resist: all you need is money and a desire to lose it.

Our sincere thanks to all who contribute constructively to this forum in answering flight training questions. If you are a flight instructor or represent a flight school / FBO offering flight instruction, you are welcome to include links to your site and related contact information as it pertains to offering local flight instruction in a specific geographic area. Additionally, direct links to FAA and related official government sources of information are welcome. However we thank you for your understanding that links to other sites or text that may be construed as explicit or implicit advertising of other business, sites, or goods/services are not permitted even if such links nominally are relevant to the question asked.
