Runway Centerline Lighting System

Asked by: 2563 views Aerodynamics, Commercial Pilot, Flight Instructor, General Aviation, Instrument Rating, Private Pilot, Student Pilot

It's about the runway center line lighting, and the runway centerline lights are white until the last 3,000 feet of the runway. The white lights begin to alternate with red for the next 2,000 feet, and for the last 1,000 feet of the runway, all centerline lights are red.

What happens to the runway such as in uncontrolled airport or any other that has considerably short length of 4000 or 5000ft, does the same lighting still apply ?

I guess if no one else is going to answer, I’ll take a crack. The aim, in chapter two, says that centreline lights are in place at some airports with precision approaches. I don’t know of an uncontrolled airport that has centreline lights. Come to think of it i’ve only seen centreline lights at bravo airports.
