Student carrying logbook on solo flight

Asked by: 3269 views Student Pilot

Just curious as I can't find a reg to back this up. Student pilots must have their medical which has a solo endorsement on it to fly solo. Is there a reg that requires them to have the logbook with them as well? I couldn't find one in part 61, maybe I missed it.

    Yes, you missed it.

The requirement for carrying logbooks for student, sport and recreational pilots is found in 61.51(i) (2), (3) and (4).

Students do not need to carry their logbooks unless flying solo cross country.
