Class B airspace

Asked by: 2732 views Student Pilot

Just to clarify...student solo is OK into an airport under the veil of a Class B but not in the area of the Class B that goes to the surface around the primary airport.  Example:  Peter O Knight at Tampa.  The student does not need the 61.95 training because Peter O Knight is not "in" the Class B, it is under it.

Your understanding is correct. However, since the surface area of the Class B is 2 miles from the airport and MacDill’s Class D is about a mile from the airport, you might be setting a low time solo student up for a problem.
