Logging time as Pilot Monitoring when 2 pilots required.

FAA Regulations

In a 2 pilot environment where 2 crew members are required, you have a PIC and SIC.  Those two can each take the roles of pilot flying (PF) and pilot monitoring (PM).  My question is if the PM can log an approach in their logbook and use it for currency even though they did not fly it themselves?
