    It provides a safety backup for the engine driven pump. Some boost pumps in combination with the engine driven pump will cause the engine to run too rich to keep them on. Follow the guidance in your POH.

    Used also for cold engine start but turn off quickly or engine may flood or spill fuel under engine on ramp, causing a fire hazard.
