FAA ATP renewal

I last flew 3 years back on my FAA ATP on the A320. Have not flown since then.

What are the requirements to renew my license, in the Sim and on the aircraft. Would Sim checks suffice or aircraft checks are required.

Also is it possible to renew in India with an Airline Approved Indian Examiner, since I plan to fly with the airline in India.

    My advice for you is to contact the CAE in Bangalore if you have already converted your FAA license to DGCA.. Alternatively, call the DGCA and talk to them about your case.

    Unfortunately, aviation authorities in India and most of other third world countries are not so clear in their rules and regulations. They follow the FAA in some parts, ICAO in other parts, and flavor the rest with their own spices which makes it hard for pilots with the FAA license to understand the applicable rule to their cases. Even when you speak to the them, you will face different “opinions”.

    If you haven’t flown the A320 in three yeras, it is usually one week of systems review followed by the sys written test plus 3 sessions of simulator then a proficiency check with one of the DGCA examiner.

    Note: JATS in Jordan is a good alternative to CAE. They have excellent facilities and great instructors. While there, I meet a lot of Indian pilots; so I think it is an approved TRTO by DGCA. Let me know if you need more info about them. This is their website:
