IFR : Nonstandard Alternate Mins. and Nonstandard Takeoff Mins.

Asked by: 1400 views Airspace, FAA Regulations

Why do some KRDU approaches have both nonstandard takeoff and nonstandard alternates while other KRDU approaches have only either one of the above (nonstandard takeoff or nonstandard alternate)?

One size does not fit all. Each runway is evaluated on its own merits, so is each approach.

As John suggests, it’s for exactly the same reason that the different approaches into the same airport have different navaids, courses, fixes and altitudes.
