Landing Fee for a helicopter on private land

Asked by: 5919 views General Aviation, Helicopter

I am a retired commercial pilot and live on a 20 acre ranch.  Lots of landing space for a helicopter.  We want to offer our home and a LZ for a helicopter during a major event here in Texas.  I will provide the LZ and tie downs only.  No services on site.  What would be a fair parking fee per day??  Located near Austin, Texas.

Assuming that you will have some kind of extra insurance to cya in case something happens to a helicopter or person on your property, go on whatever local Fbo’s or other places charge minus10 pct to be more desirable.

So as Tom implies, first figure out your costs. That’s your low end price, then whatever the market will bear.

I would argue against using the “local FBOs” rates because, presumably, you have something to offer rather than price (and I’m betting your costs are going to be significant). Plus you say you’re offering your home which is, presumably, better than your average FBO. You have a package to sell, parking fee is irrelevant.

Jumping on the Formula 1 traffic? I am no expert but as a F1 fan I have heard that they are anticipating a large amount of helicopter traffic for the race week.
