Airway portion NOTAM(ed) as NA???

Asked by: 2620 views , ,
FAA Regulations, General Aviation, Private Pilot

Good Afternoon / Morning,

I know that this is a truly stupid/basic question, but I have not had the privilege to experience this in real life (only in SIM). I have searched everywhere to try and find a description of what to do when a specific segment of an Airway is "NA".  (See NOTAM Below)

Do I:
a. Find an entire new route (or Direct)?
b. Fly that segment, but expect no ATC coverage / NAVaid signal?
c. Fly around that segment?
d. Hold your breath, fly it, and face the consequences?

NA is Not Authorized. Find a new route or use another navigation source such as GPS and specify a different route in your flightplan.

So GQO V5 BWG could not be filed, but GQO V5 MCMIN BWG could be if you have the means to navigate between MCMIN and BWG using RNAV. You have to be 5000 or higher for the airway segment and the RNAV segment you need to be at the MIA for that portion in accordance with 91.177.
