Good day good Pilots! I would like to know please; is a bank the same thing as  a roll? I understand an airplane Pitches about it's Lateral axis & Center of Pressure. Does it Bank or Roll about it's Longitudinal axis? Thank you!

    Bank and Roll are related, but they’re not the same.

    Bank is an attitude — a position measured using the horizon as reference. The angle between your lateral axis and the horizon is your bank angle.

    Roll is a movement — a rate of change of attitude. When an aircraft rolls due to an aileron deflection, it rolls around the center of gravity. The center of the roll can vary if the roll is due to turbulence or roll spoiler deflection.

    If you have a fixed bank attitude, your roll rate is zero. This is true whether you’re wings-level, in a steep turn, or somewhere in between.

    Motions are about the CG, the axis pass through the CG; not the center of pressure. Otherwise refer to Steve.
