can you stay current in an FTD without a medical?

Can i get Instrument Current in an FTD without holding a current medical certificate? mine has just expired and my currency expires at the end of the month. i was planning on doing my approaches in an FTD with a flight instructor however i do not have a current medical. is this ok?

    Yes. For that matter you don’t need a medical to accomplish this in an airplane as long as another pilot acts as PIC.
