Leaning the Mixture – Peak EGT

I read the statement below and I want someone to explain, in a simple way, what does't exactly mean: "...the best power mixture is obtained by leaning the engine to 100 deg F on the rich side of peak EGT. This setting will give you the most forward speed at any throttle setting"

    I means just that, find the peak EGT, that is, the hottest. Then enrich the mixture until your EGT is 100 degrees cooler than peak. How you perform this is going to depend on what airplane you have and what gauges are available to you.
