Instrument privileges in a multi

If a private pilot with an instrument rating wants to attain a multi engine rating with instrument privileges, what instrument tasks must he perform on the practical test?

    i added my multi-rating to my commercial license, the intrument part of the checkride was some flying under the hood , engine failure and ILS approach with one engine.

    The applicant needs to perform those tasks that could not be completed in a single engine airplane. Namely, one engine inoperative approaches.

    The task that lo-fly and Wes are talking about appears in the Commercial PTS. It’s Task D in the multiengine operations section.

    Technically, there are two tasks – the other is Task C – which deals with the straight and level instrument flight with only one engine. But since one (hopefully) flies straight and level sometime before or during the approach, they tend to be combined.

    Note the section on: Removal of the “Airplane Multiengine VFR Only” Limitation (page 7 of the PTS)

    The removal of the “Airplane Multiengine VFR Only” limitation, at the
    private pilot certificate level, requires an applicant to satisfactorily
    perform the following Area of Operation and Tasks from the private
    AMEL and AMES PTS in a multiengine airplane that has a
    manufacturer’s published VMC speed.

    Area of Operation XI: Multiengine Operations
    Task C: Engine Failure During Flight (By Reference
    to Instruments)
    Task D: Instrument Approach—One Engine
    Inoperative (By Reference to Instruments) “removal of VFR only” restriction to MEL
