Hello all.  I'm Will and I'm new to this site.  Here's my question.  I'm Literally seconds from taking the Private Pilot check ride.  I've been here before and Things get in the way.  Do any if you think it's possible to stay clean procedurally or otherwise on a flight sim (FSX)?  I keep running out of bread then taking 4 steps back.  It's frustrating but I want to finish.  Any advice would be dope.

Cheers,

Will

    Will,
DON’T GIVE UP! You WILL pass your pp check-ride. FYI: FSX sims are good ‘chair flying’ tools to have at your disposal when cash is short.

Your ahead of the pack…don’t look back.
    Good Luck!

PS: and if this email comes after your success, CONGRADULATIONS!!!!

    Hey Will,

Nothing beats real world flying but I flew many many hours in X-Plane (similar to FSX) for studying emergency procedures during my PPL training, running through my checklists while setting random systems to fail. Even though it’s simulated and easier to stay focused, it really got my heart pounding a few times.

At first I did it just for fun but found it useful and kept challenging myself so I set a recurring calendar reminder to run through them all again so I stay sharp, it’s easy to fall behind and forget about all you’ve learned in training.

    Best of luck!

Thank you both! Exactly what I needed. Solid advice, and a reminder not to get discouraged. Couldn’t have asked for more.

Absolutely, I think FS is good for procedures. I do feel, however, that comes into play more with instrument training, and no as much with private. Again tho, anything you can do to review is better than nothing. When I want to review procedures and don’t have time to get on the sim or I’m not near it, I’ll just sit down and run through the motions with my eyes closed. (I was actually “caught” at Papa Johns doing this for single-engine ME failures while waiting for my order yesterday. Kinda funny,)

Keep up with it and good luck!
