    Why couldn’t you?

You only need a medical certificate to act as PIC of certain aircraft.

You could not act as PIC in a tailwheel airplane without the endorsement, so you would have no need of a medical certificate while training for the endorsement.

After receiving the endorsement, you could even act as PIC without a medical, if you are flying an airplane that meets the definition of Light Sport (like a Cub or Champ).

Great, thanks. Without looking through the regs I was not sure if you actually needed to be PIC to obtain the endorsement.

How, would I log the flight time?
