GPS Database

Asked by: 2926 views Aircraft Systems

I have read that some (perhaps older) Jeppesen databases shows L/VNAV approaches as LNAV+V. But LNAV + V means a LNAV approach with a advisory glideslope in other GPS databases. So the confusion may case a pilotĀ  to interpret a Jepp database indicationĀ  LNAV + V as LNAV with advisory glideslope instead of actually a L/VNAV approach. Has Jepp. corrected this? Has anyone ever experienced this with Jepp. databases?

The CNX80/GNS480 would annunciate the LNAV/VNAV and LNAV+V the same at an earlier software revision. If the software is at Version 2.3, which is what it should be, it distinguishes them now.

    From the service bulletin:

Update the Level of Service capability. This change includes changes to the system to allow it to discriminate between LNAV/VNAV approaches and LNAV only approaches that have advisory vertical guidance. LNAV approaches with vertical guidance will be annunciated as LNAV+V. Approaches that are LNAV/VNAV only will be annunciated as LNAV/VNAV.
